HAB Explorer web app is now public!

Esri web app HAB Explorer, Online Esri web app on the USACE Common Operation Picture (uCOP) for constrained options to rapidly screen for potential HAB conditions. HAB Explorer on the uCOP: https://jecop-public.usace.army.mil/hab, now public! also images from the HAB explorer dashboard for HAB conditions at Milford Lake, KS are shown as examples.

New Start Project “CyAN-S2”. CyAN-S2, which stands for Cyanobacteria Assessment Network – Sentinel 2, is an interagency collaboration project that targets development of a national chlorophyll-a product capable of 10 to 60 meter spatial resolution. Cyan-S2 would enable satellite HAB monitoring for > 270,000 lakes and reservoirs and potentially avoid an estimated $42M/year in HAB-associated costs. Checkout the CyAN-S2 factsheet to learn more!

Programmatic NEPA Document for HAB Demo Program, Public Review Period Sept 19 – Oct 3, 2022. Section 128 of the Water Resources Development Act (WRDA) of 2020 authorized a HAB Technology Demonstration Program, which will generate field-scale technology cost and performance data to guide optimal technology use. Implementation Guidance for this program required preparation of a programmatic National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) document. The NEPA document is now available for public review through 9am ET Monday Oct 3, 2022. Please submit review comments via email to HABDemoPrgm@usace.army.mil.

Statements of Interest for “Harmful Algal Bloom Field Validation Program: Aquatic Nuisance Species, Broad Agency Announcement Special Topic Area” are due June 21, 2022.
